  3. This is really a laptop that I was looking for. This could be very useful to people like me who doesn't care much about portability and design. It's design isn't appealing and is bulky, but that's the only downside of this laptop apart from few other minor issues that aren't hardware related. This is a powerhouse under the hood. I got a great deal for this laptop from Dell itself when I purchased this around 30 months back. Apart from few software issues, this has never let me down. Powered by Intel Core i7 3632QM @ 2.2 Ghz and topped with Intel Turbo Boost Technology, the processor clocks upto 3.10 Ghz for handling tasks in blazing fast speed. Though it has maximum supported ram of 8 GB (4GB * 2 slots), but I have read many users running this laptop without any issues with 16GB (8Gb * 2 slots). I would like Dell to officially confirm this and if they have done so and I am wrong, someone please correct me. This laptop is capable enough to handle graphics intensive games (Please note that not all games would run without any lags, moreover, this is not a gaming laptop, but it does a pretty decent job in gaming too). I have personally played few games like NFS Rivals and GTA V without any lags. However, here comes the software issues which I mentioned earlier. The laptop has switchable graphics with integrated Intel HD 4000 and dedicated 2Gb AMD Radeon HD 7730M which would perform quiet well but only after few troubleshooting steps that the users have to do themselves (Because the technical support would ask you to run windows update and install all the latest updates, which would not solve the issue). There are few driver updates, both of Intel and AMD, that would break their functionality and therefore shouldn't be updated. Particularly for gamers, they need to choose performance mode in battery plans and in AMD Catalyst Control Centre to run the games smoothly. I think this job should have been handled automatically by GPU in background. Moreover, with my conversation with Dell Technical Support, they also admitted that since Windows 8 was just launched at that time, the drivers weren't optimized perfectly to run with Windows 8. Microsoft, Intel and AMD should try working out a solution together and I am sure they are working on it. I hope the same would not be the case when Windows 10 will be out of technical Preview and will be available for public in the coming month. Though being a powerhouse, this laptop isn't designed for people who are constantly on the move and their priority is portability. The battery life is very average not even lasting complete 3 hours (Battery life after 2 years of usage).
So for people who are not hard core gamers but would still play few games occasionally, and for those who don't care much about portability, this is for them. This laptop has a very impressive tech specs sheet. Good work Dell.
Pros:top notch specs at reasonable price, not a hard core gaming laptop but serves the gaming purpose reasonably well
Cons:battery life, bulky, software related graphics issue
